The Defence Handover Takeover (HOTO) process provides consultants and contractors with procedural information on delivering project documentation that meets the ever-changing requirements of The Australian Department of Defence's Infrastructure, Buildings and Equipment at project close.
To facilitate the search for information, the elements of HOTO are designed to deliver documentation into a Defence system called "NSIMS" and “Objective”. These systems act as a document directory for each base or specific project and provide a wealth of knowledge that is easy to search for Defence personnel.
Operational & Maintenance Manuals are created to a Defence Standard to aid in the NSIMS search functionality. These manuals act as a hub for all building or Infrastructure information and drive the document directory process with the aid of Metadata files. The manuals also contain all asset, product, maintenance schedules, warranty and as-constructed drawing information for ease of access.
The GEM's GDL component of HOTO is crucial to record Defence assets, the data entry of asset information calls for assets to be classified via ERIM’s ECID, which ensures correct maintenance protocols are triggered. However, inconsistencies and errors can arise when different businesses interpret the information in their own way.
This is where the expertise of a compliance management company becomes essential, supporting you throughout the project lifecycle to ensure your outcomes meet Defence Standards and Specifications. Transparent communication with subject matter experts guarantees a seamless handover at project closure, without any delays to final claim invoicing.
